Physio in Sport is glad to be the first physiotherapy clinic in the UK offering a high technology and innovative muscle diagnostics service called Tensiomyography (TMG) to their patients.
Muscle functionality: TMG enables us to predict which muscles are being overequested or which muscles are weaker in the cinematic chain and therefore not functional.
Speed Development: TMG is a valid method to test the muscle contraction time and therefore it enables us to have information about muscle activation.
Optimisation of training: TMG allow us to monitor the status of the muscle throughout the year and therefore it is a valid method to detect whether the training strategy is being effective or not.
Fatigue Index: TMG enables us to perform specific test between sets and therefore through the observation of the contraction time we are able to know when the muscle is getting fatigued.
Individualization of training. Through the use of TMG we are able to obtain results about the status of the muscles of every single player and therefore, to provide every player with the training he really needs.
Muscle Balance. Through the use of TMG we can reduce the injury risk by studing the relationship between the contraction time and muscle tone.
Balance between agonists/antagonists muscles (Functional Balance). In order to reduce the risk of injury we expect at least a minimum balance of 80% between agonists and antagonists muscles.
Symmetry between both sides of the body (Lateral Balance). Ofentlly, imbalance between both sides of the body could develop back pain and pelvic problems.
Inter/Intra muscle coordination. Through the observation of the contraction time and the muscle tone we study the synchronization of the muscle and therefore we can get information about the stabilitation of the joints. Every joint is reached by more than one muscle. This balance is very important in order to avoid ligament injuries and tendinopathies.
